Transition Kindergarten Class

Recognizing that children grow and develop at different rates, The Preschool developed the Five/Six class to meet the needs of developmentally young five-year-olds. This extra year provides the child more time to gain self-confidence, self-esteem and basic skills so he or she will enter school with a positive attitude.

The 5/6 class uses a kindergarten curricula for math, language arts, social studies and science, geared to each child’s developmental level. Most class members go on to kindergarten or pre-first grade.

For these children, emotional and physical development is particularly important. To foster these needs, the 5/6 class enjoys special responsibilities as the Preschool’s oldest class such as serving as acolytes in chapel, holding a special field day and leading other preschool functions.
